Calgary – Edmonton – Grande Prairie Our departure leaves the crowds at home today as we journey north, via Edmonton, stopping at Rochfort Bridge Trading Post, and on to Grande Prairie, the fastest growing city in Alberta. (B) Accommodation: Trumpeter Hotel |

Dawson Creek - Fort Nelson, BC We take time this morning to see the “Zero Milepost” at the southern terminus of the Alaska Highway, here in the centre of town. We then start our leisurely northern drive up the famous Alaskan Highway, built in 1942, bringing us to Fort Nelson, BC for the night. Our carefully planned itinerary allows us to drive the entire Alaska Highway from Dawson Creek to Delta Junction. |

Fort Nelson – Watson Lake, Yukon We travel through beautiful country, surrounded by lakes and streams. We drive through the highest summit on the Alaskan Highway at 4,218 feet; then a lunch stop at a log chalet by colourful Muncho Lake. We proceed to Watson Lake, the gateway to the Yukon, for our overnight stay. We view the famous Sign Post Forest, which will amaze you with its thousand of signs from around the world, this evening. |

Watson Lake – Whitehorse, Yukon An incredible landscape unfolds today as we travel on to Teslin where we get a sample of mouthwatering food mixed with down home hospitality, an indication of what is still to come. Our short leisurely drive brings us to Whitehorse for the night. This early evening we enjoy a cruise on the MV Schwatka down the Yukon River through the once dangerous Miles Canyon. |

Whitehorse – White Pass Rail to Skagway - Whitehorse The Alaska port village of historic Skagway awaits us as we travel via rail traversing some of the most breathtaking terrain over White Pass Summit. The wooden sidewalks of Skagway invite you to explore the town’s historic gold rush past and enjoy the quaint port village it is today before returning to Whitehorse via motorcoach. |

Whitehorse – Dawson City As we travel north on the Klondike Highway we pass Lake Laberge, made famous by Robert Service’s poem, “The Cremation of Sam McGee”. We stop to view the Carmacks Interpretive River Front Boardwalk and discover the rich aboriginal history of the area at the Tage Cho Hudan Interpretive Centre before arriving in Dawson City. This evening we visit the infamous Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Gambling Hall. Accommodation: Triple JJJ Hotel |

Dawson City – Fairbanks Today, it is “North to Alaska” as we make the trek over the “Top of the World Highway”, passing through the tiny town of Chicken and on to Tok, the state’s official sled dog capital. You’ll want to have your postcards ready to mail as we stop at North Pole, Alaska and “Santa Claus House”, before arriving in Fairbanks, the hub city of Alaska’s heartland. Fairbanks Following a tour of Alaska’s second largest city, we cruise the Chena and Tanana Rivers aboard the sternwheeler “Riverboat Discovery” visiting the Chena Indian Village where native Alaskan guides will take you on a guided tour of an authentic Athabascan Indian village. Relax in Fairbanks this evening at dinner and the theatre at Alaskaland. (B, D) |

Fairbanks – Denali NP Incredible vistas rise to meet you on your journey through the town of Nenana to Denali National Park. Have your camera ready this afternoon as we head deep into the Park, where big game animals abound, on a true wildlife safari, the “Tundra Wildlife Tour”. (B, L) Accommodation: Denali Bluffs |

Denali – Anchorage Whether you choose the option of “riding the rails” on the famous Alaska Railroad, or the motorcoach trip to Anchorage today; the panoramic views of the famed Alaska Ranges to the south and North America’s highest peak, Mt. McKinley will delight you. (B) Accommodation: Aspen Hotel On our daytrip to Seward, natural wonders abound as we travel one of North America’s most scenic byways. As we wind through the mountains, new vistas come into view at every turn. In Seward, we visit the Alaska Sea Life Centre, the world’s first cold water marine institute where puffins fly through underwater skies and you meet sea lions and harbour seals eye to eye, on a guided tour. At leisure in Seward, this afternoon, you can enjoy a walk on the waterfront and the many shops and galleries in Alaska’s favourite seaside town. This evening we dine in a Goldmine at the Sourdough Mining Company in Anchorage. (B, D) |

Anchorage - Valdez We head into the beautiful Matanuska Valley this morning, with its abundant Alaska farms, which thrive on the 24 hours of sunlight in the summer. We stop at the Musk Ox Farm in Palmer to see and learn about the Arctic’s oldest living species and the harvesting of the qiviut wool from the musk ox. This afternoon we wind our way through Eureka Summit, spectacular snow-capped mountains, canyons laced with glaciers and towering waterfalls on our way to Valdez, home of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and Terminal. (B) Accommodation: Harbor Inn Your morning is at leisure to explore Valdez with its snowcapped skyline, boardwalk and picturesque harbour. This afternoon we will enjoy an onboard lunch and cruise through the glacier-carved fjords and passageways of Prince William Sound on a 6 1⁄2 hour cruise to Columbia Glacier, the largest tidewater glacier on the Sound. Valdez – Beaver Creek We return to the Glenn Hwy this morning through the same stunning vistas to Gakona Junction, climbing to Mentasta Summit before our descent into Tok, where we rejoin the Alaska Highway. Then it is on to Beaver Creek, passing through beautiful scenic forests and meadows in bloom. Tonight we attend the Rendezvous Dinner Theatre. (B, D) Accommodation: Beaver Creek Hotel |

Beaver Creek – Whitehorse Today we depart Beaver Creek for historic Burwash Landing. We travel the Alaska Highway with the magnificent St. Elias Range to the west and along Kluane Lake. En route, we make a stop at Klukshu Village and Kluane Wilderness Village. A visit to Sheep Mountain Visitor Centre, near Haines Junction, the home of a herd of Dall Sheep, will be made before arriving in Whitehorse. (B) Accommodation: Gold Rush Inn |

Whitehorse – Dease Lake We travel the Nisutlin Bay Bridge again as we return east this morning, then head south into British Columbia and travel the famous “Stewart-Cassiar Highway”. You will see some of the most inspiring beauty and abundant wildlife on this continent. The communities on this highway provide a contrast of cultures, old and new, and exposure to fascinating natural wonders. We will make a stop at Jade City, a world famous jade mine and gift store before we arrive in Dease Lake, the ‘jade capital of the world’. (L) Accommodation: Northway Motor Inn |

Steward – Prince George As we leave Stewart this morning we travel through one of the most scenic drives in North America, through towering coastal mountains, icefields and hanging glaciers where waterfalls tumble down the beautiful mountainsides. We continue through Burns Lake and Fraser Lake, following the beautiful rivers and valleys of north central British Columbia to Prince George. (B) Accommodation: Sandman Hotel |

Prince George – Jasper Today we head toward the great Canadian Rocky Mountains, passing through Mount Robson on our way to the town of Jasper and Jasper National Park. You will have plenty of free time to explore the Jasper townsite. Accommodation: Mountain Park Lodges |

Jasper – Banff / Canmore Journey south today through the Icefields Parkway. This parkway is an endless succession of scenic wonders. Be sure to bring your camera to capture a photo of bears, mountain goats and beautiful deer. We will stop at the dramatic Athabasca Falls, before arriving at the Columbia Icefields, which are over 1000 feet. Visit the Columbia Icefields Interpretive Centre and take a brief walk on the glacier before we continue on to the unforgettable Peyto Lake. Then it is on to Canmore for our last night together. This evening enjoy the award winning Oh Canada Eh?! Dinner Show, a musical celebration of Canada that provides an unforgettable Canadian experience. Meet singing Mounties, lumberjacks, Anne of Green Gables, and other Canadian characters as you enjoy the songs and scenes of Canada. (D) Accommodation: Radisson Hotel |
