Rocky Mountain National Parks Camping Tour
Day Routing
01 Banff National Park
This morning you meet with your guide as arranged in Calgary, Alberta or in Banff. On the campground in Banff National Park you pitch your tent for the next two days and get ready for the first hike on one of the many mountain trails.
02 Banff National Park
On a full day hike you explore passes above the tree line and alpine meadows. Enjoy the evening by the camp fire or walk along the busy streets of Banff with it’s many stores and visitors from around the world.
03 Yoho National Park
This mountain wilderness in the western Rocky Mountains is known for it’s outstanding scenery and excellent hiking trails. Camp is set up under the pine trees and soon you find yourself high in the backcountry, trekking past glacier fields, azure lakes or flower-covered alpine meadows.
04 Yoho National Park
There is an opportunity for a great whitewater rafting trip on the Kicking Horse River. It involves a side trip to Golden, B.C., headquarters for many outdoor adventures. The drive there is an adventure by itself with the road dipping up and down, clinging to the side of the steep valley and winding through a canyon. Of course Yoho Park has plenty of it’s own attractions like Takakkaw Falls or Emerald Lake and an extensive network of trails which allow you to reach the high alpine with fairly easy day hikes.
05 Icefields Parkway
After the famous sites of Lake Louise, Morain Lake, Bow Summit and Peyto Lake the road climbs ever higher into the main ranges. Now it is time to hike one of the great trails in the area. A campground in this mountain paradise is home for today.
06 Jasper National Park
At the Columbia Icefields huge glaciers spawn rivers, which eventually reach three different oceans. You can walk on the surface of the Athabasca Glacier in your regular hiking boots. Trails to Wilcox Pass or Parker Ridge start already at treeline. Camp for the next two days is near the small holiday town of Jasper.
07 Jasper National Park
So many possibilities, swimming and a picknick at Pyramid Lake, mountainbiking, trailrides, canoeing and more. Or join the guide for a side trip to Maligne Lake and a last loop hike into the mountains overlooking this beautiful lake.
08 The tour ends after breakfast. Your guide will help with transfers, hotel reservations, bus connections to Calgary, Edmonton or Banff.
