Explore the Pacific Rim National Park with its rugged shorelines and sandy beaches. Hike the Wild Pacific Coastal Trail, observe killer whales while on a cruise, kayak through the incredible beautiful Barkley Sound or relax at the remote hot springs cove north of Tofino. Continue to the Saanich Peninsula and visit Sooke Harbor and Victoria - the capital of BC with its British flair and many interesting sightseeing and shopping opportunities. TIP: Enjoy the " High Tea " ceremony at the world-renowned Empress Hotel with a picture perfect harbor view. Deluxe accommodation included. Return to Vancouver by ferry.

| Self Drive Tour Itinerary |
Day 01: Vancouver Pick up your rental car at the airport or downtown Vancouver. Vancouver, located on Canada's West Coast, is one of the most beautiful cities in North America. Surrounded by water, parks and the coastal mountains, the city provides a stunning natural environment perfect for the pursuit of almost any recreational activity. Spend the day to visit the sights and attractions. Overnight in downtown . |
Day 02: Vancouver - Ucluelet / Tofino (210 km + ferry)
After breakfast drive to the ferry terminal at Horsehoe Bay, West Vancouver. Enjoy the scenic ferry journey to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Stopover at Cathedral Grove, home to 800 years old Douglas Firs. Here you can stroll through a network of trails under the shadow of towering ancient Douglas-fir trees, majestic pillars untouched by the modern world. Continue to Ucluelet and Tofino, part of the Pacific Rim National Park. |
Day 03: Ucluelet / Tofino
The fabulous Pacific Rim National Park is a rainforest and inter-tidal zone preserve. Massive trees tower over the world famous Long Beach. A great place to spend the day wandering along the boardwalk trails or along the beach hunting for critters and shells. The winter months provide an excellent opportunity to watch tremendous Pacific Storms blow their furious gales. Included: 2-3 hr Zodiac Whale Watching Tour from Tofino. Most often viewed are the Pacific Grey Whales either migrating or as summer residents. Watch these majestic creatures dive, spout, breach and spy hop in their marine environment. Humpback Whales are seen throughout the season as well as Orca Whales (Killer Whales). There are a number of other animals which may be seen during the tour: harbour seals, eagles, sea lions, porpoises, sea otters, puffins, murrelets, cormorants and more! Upon request we also can arrange for you a bear viewing excursion or a scenic full day tour to hot springs cove in Clayoquot Sound. |
Day 04: Ucluelet - Victoria (210 km)
Enjoy a morning stroll at Long Beach before heading your way back to the east coast of Vancouver Island. Visit Chemainus, Canada's largest permanent outdoor art gallery with the painting of 32 murals, which cover the town's public buildings. View the totem poles at Duncan before arriving in Victoria. |
Day 05: Victoria
Let the lively ambience lead you on a leisurely stroll to Victoria’s most popular attractions, incredible sights and tours, spectacular theatre and museums. Spend the day to visit the attractions including the Butchart Gardens, the world famous Empress Hotel, the Legislative Buildings and the Royal British Columbia Museum. The Inner Harbour is the focal point of the downtown core and surrounded by many historical buildings including the Empress Hotel. |
Day 06: Victoria - Vancouver (45 km + ferry)
On the way to the ferry terminal you may stopover at famous Butchart Gardens. The Gardens have several feature areas including a japanese Garden, a Rose Garden, and a Sunken Garden. Take the ferry from Swartz Bay to Vancouver and enjoy stunning views across the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the snow-capped Olympic Mountains. Return your rental car at the airport or downtown Vancouver. |
