| The Guest Ranch is located only 25 minutes from Cranbrook at the base of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in the very beautiful East Kootenay Valley. The Ranch is situated at 3,000 feet, high on a shelf overlooking a green valley, creek and the cattle ranch. The 360 degree view is spectacular, with ample opportunity to see elk and plenty of other wildlife. We offer many exciting activities including fantastic horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, canoeing, boating, and both spin cast and fly-fishing. We ensure that you have a wonderful and memorable vacation here at our Canadian Rocky Mountain Guest Ranch. Riding through unspoiled wilderness is top priority here. Our cattle range covers a vast area and each day wranglers guide guests to a different destination of awesome beauty or historic interest. Experience a spectacular all-day ride to the waterfalls or the historic area of Wild Horse gold rush days. During certain times of the year there is branding, moving cattle and large cattle drives. Our setting in the rugged, unspoiled Canadian Rocky mountains is just spectacular. Rides go out in the mornings and the afternoons, six days a week. We also have all-day rides each week. We are proud of our 50+ horses and keep them in excellent condition. Rides are geared to the capabilities of the rider and not necessarily regimented in the nose-to-tail format of many riding establishments. The horses are distributed according to the experience of the rider. Children (6-12 years) have their own riding program accompanied by an experienced wrangler. Basic Western Riding instructions are given. Lodging consists of six comfortable log cabins, as well as four rooms in our central log lodge. All rooms are beautifully furnished with handmade log furniture, and feature private baths. The massive great room with comfortable leather furniture, hand carved tables and a rock fireplace offers a very relaxing atmosphere. The Mexican-tiled dining area is furnished with a rustic decor of log tables and chairs. Meals feature varied home cooking with gourmet flair, from grilled salmon to roast turkey, south-western dishes, phenomenal steak and chicken barbecues, home-made breads, pasta, and lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. The food is delicious, plentiful and accommodates all appetites and diets. There is a game room, volleyball-badminton court, horse shoe pits, roping steer, lawn bowling, and a basketball hoop as well. For those wishing to relax sore muscles, a ten-person hot tub overlooking the Purcell mountains will soothe body and soul. |
