 |
| The Guest Ranch is nestled in the Priddis foothills and mountain area, a Sarcee and Stoney Indian territory of the past that was and still remains cattle and horse country. Your stay at the Ranch will let you ride these rugged areas, venturing along lands the Indians called "Paradise." The year-round working ranch in the Rocky Mountain foothills, is located only 25 miles southwest of Calgary. Bordered by ranches and the Kananaskis Forest Reserve, the ranch offers an abundance of wildlife, including deer, elk, moose, beaver, grouse and other wild birds as well as native flowers and trees. Every week guests share the traditions, heritage and natural beauty that constitute our unique lifestyle as they ride through varies mountain valleys to high foothills, crossing numerous streams and mountain meadows. This type terrain allows you the chance to periodically trot or canter if desired. We have over 45 head of horses to satisfy the expert to novice rider. They are American Quarter Horses, thoroughbreds or mixed breeds. Our wranglers will spend time showing you how to become comfortable and work with your mount. Daily enjoy trail riding from the lodge or camp, or depending on the season, attend activities like fencing, checking on cows or horses, feeding and grooming. At the main ranch our lodge and coach house accommodates 14 guests in comfortable private rooms with their own bathroom and shower. Guests share a western style living and dining area. Meals are served family style with guests and staff eating together, so you get to know everyone. Coffee and snacks are always available. The day starts with a hearty breakfast, then we saddle up for your choice of a half or full days ride. A stop along the trail for "Cowboy Cappuccino", boiled in a can over a wood fire, and lunch, may be a new experience for you. Dinner and supper is back at the ranch, with a steak barbecue at least once a week. After a day in the saddle you might want to relax in our jacuzzi or dangle your feet in the creek during a hike. On weekends you can attend a rodeo or polo game. Calgary offers good night life & dancing. If fishing is your area of interest, the Homeplace has nearby rivers with grayling and rainbow trout. The world renowned Bow River, a trophy trout stream, is 25 minutes away. |
