| GRP#02 10 Day Trail Ride & 4 Day Ranch Vacation Okanagan Valley |
| Day 01 |
| Individual Arrival. We will greet you at Penticton or Kelowna Airport and bring you to our ranch near Summerland. Spend the rest of the day exploring the area and ranch. |
| Day 02 |
| After breakfast, a short trail ride will follow getting you acquainted with the horse that will take you through the next ten days. After lunch you are free to shop and wander around. The welcome dinner gives you the opportunity to meet your co-riders. The complete trail ride is approximately 320 km, taking you through old Indian trails, up and down mountains, through swamps and between rocks. |
| Day 03 |
| The trail ride begins! The first day will bring us up to Monroe Lake at an altitude of about 1600 m above sea level. Fresh brewed coffee and a campfire is awaiting us. |
| Day 04 |
| A 4-hour ride will get us down to Trout Creek Camp at about 800 m. |
| Day 05 |
| Today’s ride towards Brent Mountain leads to our camp at June Creek. This is the only alpine area protected in the Southern Thompson Upland ecosection. Within the protected area is an extensive system of wetlands along stream channels as well as krummholz (very old, low-growing shrub varieties of sub-alpine fir and spruce), subalpine parkland, and subalpine and alpine meadows. On the way we will stop for a refreshing swim at Agur Lake. |
| Day 06 |
| We will cross two mountains today, Mount Brent and Sheep Rock, both are over 2000 m high. This captivating tour will lead us through swamps, yet the breathtaking view from the mountain plateau will make up for it. We will camp at about 1600 m at Nickel Plate Lake. Nearby Lookout Mountain rises above the Nickel Plate Lake region, studded with huge erratics, boulders deposited by receding glacial ice. Hidden within the surrounding forests are blueberries and other edible berries, as well as Labrador tea, which was used by native people and early settlers to make a soothing drink. |
| Day 07 |
| Today we will ride down to Twin Lake, which is tucked away between majestic mountains. |
| Day 08 |
| After two days of 6 to 7 hours riding, we will take a day off. You can swim, enjoy the sun and relax. |
| Day 09 |
| We will start to work our way up in the mountains again. Our camp is on Taylor Lake at about 1600m. |
| Day 10 |
| Down we go to Rippley Lake (600 m). From here we have a terrific view towards the USA. The US-border is only a stone’s throw away. We will pass the old Orofino Goldmine. Go back into the Goldrush! |
| Day 11 |
| Up on Kobau Mountain, we will stay at our camp at Testilender Lake (1800 m) for the last night. |
