Rafting Tours Chilcotin & Fraser River
|
 |
| We will take you on exciting rafting rides down the mighty Chilcotin and Fraser Rivers. Black bears, bighorn sheep, bald eagles, snow-capped mountains and desert canyons are just a small example of what you will see on our rafting adventure. A typical group of rafters range from international to local clientele of all ages sharing one common interest: having a lot of fun pursuing great adventures. Our guides are not only expert outdoors people specializing in gourmet cooking, camp entertainment, and knowledge of surrounding natural history, they are highly trained and certified river rafting guides. The Provincial Government of British Columbia has some of the Worlds highest standards regarding river rafting outfitter permits and guide licenses. Our guides meet and exceed all operational and safety standards in the River Rafting Safety Act of BC. |

| RBC#06 Chilkotin & Fraser River |
| Day 0 |
| After arriving in Williams Lake, the cowboy hub-city of British Columbia, we will gather for a pre-trip meeting on the eve of our expedition departure. Here we will meet our guides and fellow travelers. We will review the trip logistics and help everyone prepare for our three-day journey. Overnight in Williams Lake (not included) |
|
| Day 01 |
| Let's go! With an early start, we take a short shuttle from Williams Lake to an old trading post named Hanceville. Our rafts will be waiting fully equipped for this three day trip. After a detailed river safety briefing, we will embark on our journey. We will challenge our first roller coaster rapids named "The Goosenecks" in Hanceville Canyon. We might spot a black bear and will see bald eagles and ospreys. In the afternoon we will camp at the confluence of the Chilcotin River and Big Creek. Our camp is inside the Big Creek Ecological Preserve. Our guides will help set up camp and start preparing a home cooked gourmet meal. After dinner we will review the next day and get some rest. |
|
| Day 02 |
| Today is one of the best whitewater days in British Columbia. Upon departure we immediately enter the exciting Big Creek Rapids. We then stop above our first Class 4-drop, the "Farwell Canyon Rapids." While scouting the rapids we will explore and interpret pictographs left on rock faces by local First Nations at the turn of the 20th Century. After scouting, we will run the Farwell Canyon Rapids. After lunch, we will float to our camp on the largest working ranch in North America, the Gang Ranch. The afternoon will be spent walking up the grassy benches above the river with views of upcoming canyons and the Chilcotin-Fraser Junction Bighorn Sheep Preserve across the river. |
|
| Day 03 |
Shortly after leaving camp, we run a series of Class 3 rapids before entering "Big John Canyon." In the heart of the canyon lies "Railroad Rapids." Railroad Rapids is a continuous Class 4 wave train that stretches over one mile. Upon exiting the rapids, the Chilcotin joins the mighty Fraser River. The river shore features sagebrush and hoodoos with Bighorn sheep curiously peering at our rafts as we float by.
After lunch we arrive at the Churn Creek Protected Area, a newly sanctioned Provincial Park. This is where we take a short shuttle through the historic Alkali Lake Ranch on route to Williams Lake. |
