Bordering Strathcona Provincial Park just a short floatplane flight from Tofino is the new Wilderness Outpost on gorgeous Bedwell River. Visit this 21st-century-safari style enclave of ten ultra luxurious sleeping, dining, lounge and massage tents. The Outpost sleeps up to 24 guests. Guest quarters are roomy prospector style white canvas tents on raised wooden platforms, complete with remote-controlled propane woodstoves, a/c power, Adirondack queen or twin beds with down duvets, antique furnishings and accessories, oil lamps and opulent rugs. Generous porches overlook the river. Cedar boardwalks link the 10 discreetly situated guest tents to the dining tents, lounge tents, massage tent, kitchen roundhouse and shower facilities. A windmill-powered generator provides a/c power and hot and cold running water to showers and sinks. Explore the river valley and hundreds of kilometres of trails and abandoned logging roads on foot or on horseback. Outpost activities include guided whale and bear watching, horseback riding, Wild Side First Nations Interpretive Trail, Hot Springs Cove daytrek, ocean or fresh water fishing and kayaking daytrips. Unguided activities include kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, hiking and river or dock fishing. Embraced by vast tracts of old-growth forest in one of the world's only remaining temperate rainforests, our wilderness playground includes two private lakes, a natural waterfall-fed pool, and horse stables. Natural amenities are ancient forest cathedrals, magnificent stands of 1,000 year-old cedars, miles of walking and riding trails, moss-carpeted thickets, pristine lakes, miles of majestic coastline, a breathtaking river estuary, abundant wildlife, and water so clear you can see tomorrow. A massage tent, and wood-fueled cedar hot tubs and sauna are favourite places to unwind at day's end.
