HT#12 Chilcotin Wilderness Hiking
 Day Itinerary
01 - 04
Like true explorers, you and your guide(s) will access the alpine by foot, carrying only a daypack. The packhorse carries your personal gear, and the alpine camp is set up and stocked for your adventure. Delicious and hearty meals from fresh ingredients are prepared daily.

Hikers based out of our Ranch have daily options that include a mix of Ranch trails or hikes into the alpine with your guide(s). Camp based hikers can choose between Level I, II or III. The more seasoned hiker can choose an adventure that involves steeper terrain and takes them through a series of our alpine camps.

Access in and out of camp is a 3-9 hour day covering 5 to 20 km, with elevation changes up to 1,000 m over uneven terrain. Daily itineraries vary according to the level of the trip and the interests of the group. The hiking area covers 5,000 square km in the exceptional southern Chilcotin Mountains.

Discover backcountry wilderness while hiking in a truly unique alpine setting. Imagine secluded alpine basins…. Picture a surrounding panorama of snow-covered peaks and forested terrain. Complete the picture with a vision of silver trout shattering mountain reflections on the surface of Spruce Lake.

You and your guide(s) will access the alpine by foot (fly-in is an option). Like true explorers, with pack horses in tow, you'll travel through the mountains in nomadic style, following game trails, crossing glaciers, and enjoying open-air lunches with the world's best views.

The southern Chilcotin Mountains are known for sunny skies and dry climate. In addition to the favourable climate, the area is known for its bio-diversity. This gives rise to an abundance of wildflowers that bloom May through to September at their preferred elevations, and an outstanding variety of wildlife. California bighorn sheep (the largest population in British Columbia), moose, mule deer, mountain goat, Grizzly, Black bear and wolf are plentiful and frequently sighted.

If your main interest is fishing, let us know and we can plan for your overnight accommodation at our Spruce Lake camp. Meals and entertainment take place in a quaint log cabin at the edge of the lake and you have the privacy of individual heated tent cabins nestled in the nearby grove of lodge pole pines and spruce trees. There's even a gravity-fed hot shower to enjoy after a day of hiking to 50 million year old fossil beds.
